NBTBA Winter Trios Finals 2016/17
On Friday, 12 May Team Strike Force (Pat, Stuart, Shaun and Russ) and Bats Angels (Tracey, Nicky and Charlotte) travelled to Wigan to take part in the NBTBA winter trios finals which were to be held on the following day.
They arrived at the Britannia Hotel around mid-afternoon and spent some time settling in and finding their way around. After a meal at the pub opposite the hotel, some spent time in the bar before retiring to bed.
Saturday was the big day! After a hearty breakfast, they joined the other teams on a coach which was to take them to the bowling alley where the battle would begin. The tournament began with a short opening ceremony followed by three games, then lunch and another three games. Once the final game had been played, the coach was there to return them to the hotel where they could relax for a while before dinner and presentations.
Dinner was served at 7 pm and was followed by the presentation of trophies. Everyone was on tenter hooks waiting to hear how well they had played. It’s fair to say that no team wants to come 12th but, low and behold, this position was announced and, it seems Team Strike Force had not played as well as they had hoped. Further announcements were made and, in 5th place, came Bats Angels – well done girls!
There was much celebrating and commiserating until the teams went off to bed feeling very tired after a long day. On Sunday, the teams travelled back to Swindon with hope in their hearts for success in the summer doubles league.
